We will build on what we learned the previous two years and then add fun new things to learn like clothing, objects and directions, family, likes and dislikes, food and more!
All French and Spanish classes will be taught every other day for one trimester. If you do not have a language on your schedule for the first trimester, don't worry! You may have it during the second or third trimester!
It will be a good habit use your Google Calendar and your student planner to help keep you organized! It will also be important for you to email me if you have any questions or need help with an assignment when we are not in class. I am here to help!
Habits of Work
You will receive Habits of Work (also known as HOW) scores every other week and they will be recorded on JumpRope. There are three categories for HOW scores:
engagement in learning
preparation for learning
interactions with peers and teachers
Please note that HOW scores will use a 3, 2, 1 scale:
3 = you are meeting the expectations for the HOW
2 = you are partially meeting the expectations for the HOW
1 = you are currently not meeting the expectations for the HOW
Essential Learning Targets (ELT's)
There are four categories for 8th grade language ELT's: Culture, Interpersonal Communication, Interpretive Communication, and Presentational Communication. You will sometimes be assessed for speaking, sometimes for listening, other times for reading and/or writing.
Scores for ELT's range as follows and are based on your understanding of the content: 4, 3.5, 3.25, 3, 2.75.2.5, 2, 1.
