This class will take a historical look at the early years of the State of Maine, and will advance towards the 21st Century. We will identify challenges and opportunities that Mainers face today. We will also look at some of Maine's geography and key industries such as fishing and agriculture. We will explore Maine State Government, current political issues, and challenges of the day. This class is a mixture of class discussions, multimedia presentations, and independent research. Assessments will be varied in format.
Students will submit assignments through Google Classroom
Absence:
If you are absent, look at the Agenda in Google Classroom to see what you are missing that day.
Even if you are absent from class, you are responsible for all work completion.
If there is a legitimate reason you cannot complete the work on time, please communicate with me in a timely manner, and I will give you an extension if appropriate.
Showing up to the next class (or emailing) and asking “what did I miss?” is not following the protocol.
Late Policy: You have a two-week deadline for submitting any missing work. Work not submitted on time will receive a "0" until it is turned in (marked as M in Infinite Campus).
Late work that is turned in after the due date but before the two-week deadline may earn a reduced score, up to an 85, depending on the nature of the assignment.
I will not accept any work more than two weeks after the given due date. At that time your grade of “0” is fixed.
Any exceptions to deadlines must be discussed promptly and are dependent on the given situation.
