This course will examine the development of social, political, and economic traditions in the Americas from the pre-colonial period of indigenous peoples through the Civil War and Reconstruction. Targets will be at an advanced level and will address themes about World History, United States History, and Civics and Government. This course is at a more rigorous pace. Students are expected to use close reading and deep analysis skills, and engage in critical thinking about complex topics.
At the end of this course, students will be recommended for CP, Honors, or Advanced Placement US History
Students will submit assignments through Google Classroom

Absence:
If you are absent, look at the Agenda in Google Classroom to see what you are missing that day.
Even if you are absent from class, you are responsible for all work completion.
Sometimes you will take notes in class. If you are absent, the best option is to ask a classmate to copy their notes. **assignments should never be copied, only class notes.
If there is a legitimate reason you cannot complete the work on time, please communicate with me in a timely manner, and I will give you an extension if appropriate.
Showing up to the next class (or emailing) and asking “what did I miss?” is not following the protocol.
Late Policy: You have a two-week deadline for submitting any missing work. Work not submitted on time will receive a "0" until it is turned in (marked as M in Infinite Campus).
Late work that is turned in after the due date but before the two-week deadline may earn a reduced score, up to an 85, depending on the nature of the assignment.
I will not accept any work more than two weeks after the given due date. At that time your grade of “0” is fixed.
Any exceptions to deadlines must be discussed promptly and are dependent on the given situation.
Retakes:
If you are unhappy with a content grade, please communicate with me, and I may provide a retake opportunity at my discretion depending on the nature of the assignment.
A retake opportunity may have limitations, such as the chance to improve the grade only up to a certain number. i.e.: you can redo the assignment to earn up to an 85 and/or an adjusted due date.
