HoWs = Habits of Work
"Habits of Work are the skills that are important for all students to have and exhibit to maximize their learning." (SPSD website)
Students will also be assessed on their Habits of Work (H.O.W.). Habits of Work are scored on three criteria:
preparation for learning
engagement with learning
interaction with peers
These three criteria will develop a score that shows a student's work ethic and classroom behavior. It's important to note that the H.O.W. scores are always separate from the ELT scores. It's possible for a student to meet ELT targets and not meet H.O.W. targets, and vice versa. By scoring these separately, students and parents will have detailed information about students' content knowledge and skills, as well as students' work skills that will help them be successful in college and the workplace.
These Habits of Work will be score on a 3, 2, 1 scale. 3 means meeting expectations, 2 means partially meeting expectations, and 1 means not meeting expectations.
