Hour of Code 2017-2018

Appleby Hosts first Family Code night

Appleby School hosted their first Family Code Night on March 14, 2018.

Over 150 people signed up and 26 families were selected by lottery. Using Code.org puzzles, students and parents learned basic coding skills using Block programming. Students taught their parents about Repeat Blocks, Code Efficiency, Conditionals, and If-Else statements.

Family code night is a special program created a few years ago to promote Computer Science For All. It was featured at the White House in 2016. It is a fun way for kids and their families to learn Computer Science together.
