Welcome to 4A!
Hello, my name is Brigette Guyer, and I’ve been teaching for 29 years! I am a graduate of Shippensburg University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. I also have a Masters Degree in Teaching and Curriculum from Penn State University. I began teaching for the Diocese of Harrisburg at Corpus Christi School in Chambersburg, PA, where I taught Kindergarten and Third Grade. Then moved to Carlisle with my husband, Tom, and I have been teaching at Saint Patrick School ever since. I taught Second Grade my first year here. Then, I moved to 4th Grade where I have spent most of my teaching. I also taught Fifth Grade for two years.
I hold a number of positions here at our school. I am one of the Lighthouse Peer Mediation Advisors, as well as being a part of the RCIA buddy program. I am part of the Catholic Schools Week and Social Committees too. I have been the Teacher-in-Charge when our principal is unable to be at school. In 2016, I was awarded the Golden Apple Teacher from the Diocese. It was such an honor!
My husband and I have been married for 29 years and have two sons, Brady and Trey. We also have a basset hound named Nittany who will be turning 12. Both of my boys attended SPS from Pre-K through 8th Grade and also attended Trinity High School. We have been very fortunate to be able to give them a Catholic education. Brady graduated from UNC Greensboro and currently has a full time job in Human Resources. Trey graduated from Penn State in May and is now on the hunt for a job.
Outside of school, we are huge sports fans, especially ice hockey! We have season tickets to the Hershey Bears. My son, Trey, has played ice hockey since he was 5 years old. He played for the Capital City Vipers and also played high school hockey for the Keystone Kraken (formally The Trinity Shamrocks). We also enjoy vacationing together at OCMD every summer! Now that my boys are getting older, I love spending time with them whenever I get the opportunity.
