Risks Associated with Vaping

Smoking and tobacco use have been a public health concern for a while. E-cigarettes have gained momentum recently, and now what we know is that 20% of high-school aged kids vape.  Knowing this, we want to provide young people with as much education as we can. 1. Addiction: Vapes contain a substance called nicotine which creates a temporary feel-good affect. The flip side? This often leads to increased use and addiction. Vape devices contain a high level of nicotine, about the same as an entire pack of cigarettes. We know that the earlier a person develops an addiction, the harder it is to quit later in life. 

2. Brain developmental issues: Your brain continues to develop until your mid-20s. Lifestyle choices like vaping and smoking can expose you to negative development. Exposure to nicotine in the early stages of adolescence can harm the control centers responsible for learning, self-control, and mood. This can cause behavior changes over time. 

3. Increased Health risks: Lung damage, nicotine poisoning, usage overdose, and high blood pressure are only a few of the health problems associated with vaping. Ongoing use of e-cigarettes and nicotine can have lasting dental affects and affects on a person's central nervous system and heart. 

4. Exposure to harmful chemicals: Vapes contain harmful chemicals like cadmium, nickel, tin, and lead. When the metal components of vape devices are heated in order for the user to get the full affect, even more harmful chemicals are released into the lungs.
