The main entrance to the school is pedestrian only with a cycle lane taking students to a covered cycle storage area. The canteen area is found here as well, where students are able to eat during break and lunchtime. At the front of the school there is also the main hall which is used for assemblies, some PE lessons and whole school performances. It is also where students can buy their hot food during break and lunchtime, with seating available at lunchtime.
PE Facilities
The school is very lucky to have a number of indoor sporting facilities found mainly along the main corridor, as well as a large outdoor space. There is a gymnasium, larger sports hall, swimming pool, fitness suite and tennis/netball courts surrounded by a number of football pitches and athletics facilities. Students of all key stages are able to use these facilities before and after school by arrangement and following the extra curricular offer, as well as during the timetabled lessons.
Modern Foreign Languages Classrooms
These are vibrant areas with numerous displays and resources for learning a new language.
Art, Photography, Media Studies and Drama classrooms
Here in the WG block there are a number of very specialist rooms linked to the Arts. This includes downstairs a range of performing arts facilities and specialist classrooms with bespoke lighting and sound systems for performing. There is a also a newly refurbished Media Studies room with new computer and Apple Mac facilities. Upstairs there are a number of Art rooms as well as a Photography room, computer suite and dark room.
Music and Drama Classrooms
The EI block boasts a large Drama studio used by all key stages. Next to this are two Music classrooms, well equipped with practical equipment and computer facilities for editing and production. Next to these are a suite of smaller performance rooms, where students receive individual peripatetic lessons in a range of musical instruments.
CM Block
The CM block is in the centre of the school and has just been refurbished with new windows and doors. On the ground floor there is more social space for students and benches and tables to eat at for break and lunchtime. Also located here is the ARC, providing support and guidance to SEND students as well as teaching rooms for Key Stage 3 'Nurture students'. Finally in CM there is Pathways for any disadvantaged students. Both of these areas work with students individually, or in small groups.
JB Block - Design Technology Classrooms
The JB block is to the front of the school and is home to the Design Technology department. Here there are two large catering and Food Technology rooms, which are fully equipped to support students complete their practical lessons. This block also includes a range of Resistant Material and Engineering workshops where students learn practical skills, as well as Graphics and Textile classrooms. Included in this block is a bespoke Computer suite along with a range of equipment including a laser cutter, 3D printers and lathes which are used for our F1 in Schools teams and club. To the side of the JB block is a serving hatch for break and lunchtime food.
Sixth form area and Library
This is a quiet study area in the centre of the school which includes a library as well as computer suites, study areas and a common room for the sixth form, along with their own cafeteria. The school library is used at Key Stage 3 for regular reading lessons as part of the English curriculum. At lunchtimes it is home to a number of clubs, with a wide screen for movies and seminars, quiet reading zone with bean bags and tables for board games such as the chess club.
WS Block
The WS Block houses History, Geography & Maths. There is also a computer suite found on the ground floor overlooking another social area within the atrium with a serving trolley for food at break and lunchtime.
