Gifted & Talented

All teachers who provide instruction and services that are a part of the district’s defined gifted/talented services program for G/T students must receive a minimum of six hours annually of professional development in G/T education that is related to state teacher education standards .

Social & Emotional Learning of GT Students: Attending to the Affect

Gifted children often demonstrate greater maturity in some domains over others, and may be at greater risk for specific kinds of social-emotional difficulties if their needs are not met. These aspects may include heightened awareness, anxiety, perfectionism, stress, issues with peer relationships, and concerns with identity and fit. Educators need to stay in tune with gifted learners' needs and help shape a strong framework for social-emotional health. During this workshop, participants will look at the social and emotional needs of gifted and talented students and the unique challenges that influence their needs. This day will also provide strategies that may be used to empower gifted learners to effectively deal with these challenges.
