How We Grade
We grade Pre-Kindergarten on a 1 - 3 Scale.
1 = Mixing: They don't understand the concept yet, still playing
2 = Cementing: They are getting more right than wrong, but not quite on grade level
3 = Cemented: They have it and can answer a question without being prepped
MAJOR Expectations
When we are growing and showing the Littles in the way they should go strong, a Parent-Teacher relationship is necessary. Part of building that relationship is me letting you know what I expect from the children behaviorally in the classroom. With the understanding they are young, I still expect:
Following Directions
Sitting down/Not running around the class
Have a little timer and when your child successfully sit for 30s, 1 min, 2 min, ect. give them a reward. Keep adding up the time until they can sit for 10 minutes.
Keeping our hands to ourselves
Nice hands
Asking permission to play, hug, hold hands
Hitting hands
Learning to use soft hands and asking permission if a friend wants to play
Separating when upset
Telling the teacher when someone isn't using nice or soft hands
Completing our work
Using nice words
Not talking while the teacher/adult is talking
Our littles are very social so please encourage them daily to make sure they are listening to the adult voice in the room.
