Each summer over 18,000 students from across the state start working on the Texas All State Choir music. Though a series of four auditions a select group emerges as the the best singers in the state.
After the first round of auditions, students have an opportunity to earn a spot in one of the All Region Choirs. Dekaney High School hosts this prestigious event. It is always a great thing to have our students participate.
The deadline for entering this process is Wednesday September 6 at 2:30pm.
Choir concerts, after school rehearsals/sectionals are designated as an “extension of the classroom” and are therefore considered co-curricular, as designated by the Texas Education Association and UIL. Activities occurring outside of the regular daily schedule (before and after school, weekends, etc.) can be mandated by the co-curricular coordinator (choir director). Students’ eligibility is not a concern for performing in co-curricular activities, however, grades still play a crucial role in the student’s ability to participate in extracurricular activities. Students must have a 70% or higher in ALL courses to be academically eligible for extracurricular activities.
Extracurricular activities include:
● Football games
● Auditions for TMEA All Region, Area, and All-State Choir
● Campus based performances where admission is collected
● Choir trips/off-campus events (North Texas Madrigal Festival trip)
Eligibility will be determined at the end of the 6th week. The end of the 6th week is on Friday, September 22nd.
Please visit the Spring ISD Home Access Center to check your student's grades.
