WELCOME TO SPRING ISD!!
In Spring ISD, we are committed to nurturing the passions and potentials of our gifted and talented students. In the classroom, G/T learners are supported through cluster grouping, where gifted students are placed together in a classroom led by a teacher trained in gifted education, and through differentiated lessons, where instruction is adjusted so students can learn at the right level and pace, often through more complex and open-ended tasks. Students also complete their Renzulli Profiles, designed to highlight their interests, preferred learning methods, and how they prefer to show their learning. Students will also showcase their learning by participating in a Campus G/T Expo, as well as a District G/T Expo.
Students will also have access to a variety of enrichment opportunities such as Renzulli Learning, the Texas Performance Standards Project (TPSP), small-group instruction, a variety of summer camp offerings, and more! The options will vary from campus to campus. Beyond the classroom, students are invited to participate in Odyssey of the Mind, a creative team based competition, and A+ Academics UIL, competitions in math, speaking, and more!
If you are coming to Spring ISD from another district and have already completed your initial 30 hours, see below or contact the Advanced Academics team to help with transferring your professional development.

Who needs the g/t hours?
30hrs Initial G/T Professional Development:
All secondary Advanced Academic Course, AP, DC, IB teachers and all elementary classroom teachers with GT students in their classroom (Math/Science/ELA/SS). All Kinder teachers and all middle school ISC teachers.
Kindergarten teachers. Why? You don't have GT identified students until February. It is best practice to have these hours in place before you have GT students. Getting the hours in the spring is difficult.
