2-Day per week Courses
Both Mathematics and Principles of Accounts require consistent practice, dedication, and commitment.
Due to the demanding nature of these subjects and the limited nine-month period within which the syllabus must be completed, students may benefit significantly from attending classes twice per week rather than the usual one-day-per-week schedule currently offered. The additional class sessions provide more time for instruction, practice, revision, and thorough coverage of the syllabus.
Please note that the regular one-day-per-week classes will still be available for students who prefer that option.
Fundamentals of Maths
(Basic Mathematical Concepts) (Tuesdays)
Fundamentals of English
(Foundational Concepts)
(Thursdays)
Fundamentals Courses
We also offer Fundamentals of Mathematics and Fundamentals of English classes. These optional preparatory courses are recommended for students who need to strengthen their foundation, feel uncertain in the subject, have not sat CSEC within the past four years, or previously earned below a Grade 4.
The courses help build core skills and confidence before entering the regular CXC classes the following academic year. Students may still enroll directly into CXC courses if they wish.
Fundamentals courses run for the full academic year and cost $350, the same as regular CXC courses.
Please note that students cannot enroll in both the Fundamentals and regular CXC course in the same subject at the same time.
Switching from CSEC Maths or English to Fundamentals of Maths or English, or vice versa:
Any student in the CSEC Maths or English class is free to switch over, before Wednesday 15 October 2026, at no extra cost, to the Fundamentals of Maths or English class, however,
they must make this request via email to the office at tertiary@springer.edu.bb.
SBAs are critical to be aware of - What are SBAs?
An SBA is an individual or group project conducted during the course of the Programme by the tutor. It is created and submitted by the student, and assessed by the tutor, using criteria provided by CXC.
Several of our courses carry an SBA component:
CSEC Mathematics
Biology
EDPM
Information Technology
Social Studies
(See our Timetable for details)
SBA scores contribute to anywhere between 20% and 30% of the candidate's overall examination grade, depending on the subject.
Candidates who complete an SBA will NOT have to sit the 3rd CXC exam.
Students who register in the Continuing Education Programme for subjects that carry SBAs will NOT be registered to sit the 3rd exam at the time of registering for CXC exams - they must submit an SBA.
