New Lesson Books Needed for 6th Grade Strings

Students will need Essential Elements - Book 2 for their instrument by the week of October 7th. The books sell for $10 through Zeswitz and most other retailers.

Book #2 has a purple stripe at the top of the cover (book #1 has an orange stripe at the top). Verify that you are getting the book for the correct instrument, and order early enough to have the book by October 7th!

After-School Rehearsals

Wednesdays, 3:40-4:40pm

Pick-up is at the front main entrance of the 5-6 building.

When do I need to let Mrs. Katzianer know that I will be missing rehearsal?

An e-mail or note will be required for a missed rehearsal when a student is present in school, but not staying after-school for rehearsal. Examples include:

• My child has a doctor's appointment that I could not reschedule.

• My child got sick near the end of the school day and went home to rest.

• My child completely forgot to stay after school!

• My child does not have anyone to pick them up from rehearsal.

Forgetting an instrument is NOT an excuse to miss rehearsal! If a student is absent for the ENTIRE school day, Mrs. K will not need a note as the absence will be noted on the daily school attendance report.

Thank you for your help in making sure everyone is properly accounted for and where they belong (especially after-school!).

6th grade Winter Concert: Wednesday, December 8 7:00pm, 5-6 GC Cafetorium

String Jamboree: Thursday, March 31 6:15pm & 7:30pm, 10-12 GC Gymnasium

6th grade Spring Concert: Wednesday, May 11 7:00pm, 5-6 GC Cafetorium

Concert Attire

The following is the required concert attire for all 5th and 6th grade musicians:

• Boys: white polo or dress shirt, black dress pants, black shoes

• Girls: white blouse or shirt, dress pants or skirt, black shoes (skirts should be an appropriate length for sitting on stage)

• NO JEANS OR SNEAKERS PLEASE!
