Classroom Expectations

As a class we have come up with a list of expectations that we feel are necessary to be successful learners in 5th grade. We signed them indicating that we all agree with them. Our expections include:

  • Listen to speaker
  • Respect the teacher(s) and students
  • Be Kind
  • Think about what you're going to say before you say it
  • Be Responsible
  • No Fighting

Along with the above overall expectaions we will be using a strike chart to monitor students daily behavior. Students will get strikes for the following behaviors:

  • Talking out of turn
  • Not following directions
  • Being disrptive
  • Teasing
  • Defiant/disrespectful
  • Being unprepared
  • Being inappropriate

These behaviors will be monitored throughout the day and the chart will follow the students to each class that they attend including specials.

The consequences for strikes are as follows:

  • Three strikes in a day will result in a lunch detention
  • Five strikes in a day will result in an after school detention
  • Parents will be notified by e-mail of any lunch or after school detentions assigned

***The strikes start over each day
