Professional Learning

This page is a record of staff professional learning.

Our St Pat's vision states ...

...We identify needs and provide equal opportunities for professional development which builds professional capacity and capability to be engaged and motivated....

This page includes links to videos and  reading resources to support staff development and inform our community.

All staff meeting sessions are recognised as Professional Learning  (PL) opportunities for staff.  We are learning all the time and PL is more than only going offsite to a course. At St Patrick's we provide onsite and offsite opportunities for staff PL . The PL aligns to our School Improvement Plan, our vision and our team actions.

2020

The main focus in 2020 is around developing a feedback culture.

The arrival of COVID -19  has seen  teaching and learning transform online and this site has truly become the interactive link between school and home . All staff are developing their technology skills in real time for an authentic purpose. They have learnt to adapt their planning based on student and parent feedback, to develop teaching videos, to use the Zoom  videoconferencing platform to connect face to face with their classes, groups, one to one and with parents.

In the second phase of lockdown during Term 3, the Curriculum and Faith team leaders are leading staff PL to further develop a feedback culture at St Patrick's.

These blogpost provide a summary of the professional learning and staff developments

COVID -19 (Part 1) Fallen Bicycles, shortness of breath and remote learning begins

COVID -19 (Part 2) Our closure Day May 25 Summary of staff responses to key questions, COVID Treadmill reflection

COVID -19 (Part 3)  Responding to feedback and the second wave challenges

COVID-19 (Part 4) Parent Feedback Links to our vision and feedback culture.

Catholic Identity Digital resources from Dr Didier Pollefeyt's September  2017 visit

PowerPoint resources and videos of each of the three presentations given by Professor Didier Pollefeyt during his visit in September 2017 are now available online. The videos are on YouTube and the presentations are on Google Drive.

Session 1: The shift from Relativism and Literal Belief to Post-Critical Belief

Professor Pollefeyt takes us to a deeper understanding of belief as post-critical. Here, belief defends a commitment in and through faith and supports an expression of a ‘new evangelisation’ for new people in new times. Watch this video to find out more about four possible attitudes to the content of belief.

Session 2: The shift from Christian Values Education to Recontextualisation

Professor Pollefeyt takes us to a deeper understanding of recontextualisation. Here an understanding of recontextualisation is strongly supported by five criteria, all of which must be present for authentic recontextualisation to occur. Watch this video to check your understanding of recontextualisation and how it is applied in your community.

Session 3: The Shift from the Colourful and Colourless schools to the Dialogue school

Professor Pollefeyt takes us to a deeper understanding of what it means to truly be a dialogue school. He is able to illustrate two different types of dialogue school: the kerygmatic dialogue school and the recontextualising dialogue school. Both types of dialogue school have their positive attributes. Watch this video to find out what kind of dialogue might be practised in your school.
