Exciting News!! Ground Floor Refurbishment Update March 2022

Above is an image of the latest ground floor refurbishment plans based on our original masterplan. This is still work in progress. We are awaiting final PBFC ( Archdiocese Project Building & Finance Committee ) approval from another meeting at the beginning of May. After that meeting we will go to tender for 4 weeks. Following a review with MACS at the beginning of June, the aim is for a July start onsite with all learning spaces to be completed by the end of 2022. Part 1 - Learning Spaces (end 2022) Part 2 - Admin (early 2023) Part 3 Outdoor Learning Decks, and landscaping (early 2023).

Plans are underway for the two Prep and two Year 1 classes to be set up with all of their furniture as 4 classrooms in other spaces away from the works to ensure minimal disruption to the children's learning. We will inform the community about these learning spaces in term 2. We are excited about the rich, learning opportunities for the children with these new developments happening onsite.

Michelle Barclay Running Track to be installed Christmas Holidays 2022 !!!

We are pleased to announced that the Michelle Barclay running track has been designed and will be installed during the school holidays at the end of this year. The installation will take place on the existing back basketball/netball court. It will include a 2 lane running track and a retaining wall running parallel to Dalny Road to double as seating.

School funds and P&F fundraising from 2021 (see the excerpt from the Shamrock below) and 2022 will go towards the cost of the project.

The project cost for the track is $55,000

P&F Fundraising for 2021

In consultation with the school, money raised by the P&F in 2021 will help fund the installation of a running track in the rear yard in memory of Michelle Barclay. Michelle taught PE at St Patrick's for many years and sadly passed away last year. We think this will be a wonderful tribute to her, and a fitting legacy item for our children to enjoy at school.

GEKA St Patrick's Kindergarten Plans for 3 & 4 year olds will be ready to open in 2023 !!

Below is an image of the GEKA St Patrick's Kindergarten plans.

The kindergarten is a refurbishment of the portable classroom currently used 3 days a week as an art room space. The St Pat's art room will relocate to its original space; the large classroom upstairs in the main building.

GEKA will lease the space from St Patrick's school and GEKA is fully funding the refurbishment of the facility. There is no cost for the school.

Works on the refurbishment are due to commence in June. Due to the fact that this is a refurbishment and not a new build, there will be minimal disruption for the students. The kindergarten will be fully self contained including staff and child bathroom facilities.

The current St Pat's adventure playground is booked in to be moved 3 metres towards the east of its current site during the September school holidays. We will still maintain much of the existing playground area with the area immediately behind the kindergarten being utilised as a junior playground space. Our Prep children will be able to utilise this extra playground from 2023 onward. We will also gain the new outdoor decking play spaces as part of our ground floor refurbishment along with the running track and the eradication of the asphalt area in the backyard.

You can access further information about this partnership from the latest GEKA announcement
