Hi! I'm Susan McGrath. The Educational Care Department is a group of Learning Specialists who work with students who benefit from accommodations to support their learning. I am grateful to be working in a community with such a strong and inspiring group of educators. This is my 17th year at St. Paul’s.
Hi! I’m Naila. I am so excited to be at St. Paul’s. This is my second year as the Educational Care Coordinator. I have been a tutor here for ten years and have supported teachers and students in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades for the last three years. I am excited to work with your students individually and in small groups to help them further their love of reading and learning.
Hi, I’m Chad. It’s an honor for me to be an official member of the St. Paul’s family. I have been a tutor, primarily in the middle school for the last seven years, and am excited to be in a role that will allow me to support more students.
Hi! I’m Lesley Bell. I am happy to be a part of the St. Paul’s community which is so welcoming to all. I am providing academic support to 3rd through 5th graders in math and language arts. I work with small groups of students based on their needs, identified by their teachers and Ms. McGrath. This is my second year at St. Paul’s - I arrived here after many years as a fifth grade teacher at Park Day School.
The Educational Care Department continues to provide services during our Distance and Hybrid Learning models. As always, teachers will work with Educational Care Coordinators to follow the agreed-upon accommodations in a students’ Educational Care plan. Some examples of these accommodations are that the student can listen to recorded books, can use extended time, will be provided with extra check-ins, and possibly tailored assignments.
In Distance Learning our small group work and check-ins will continue to be directed by the classroom teachers and the Educational Care Coordinators based on the results of psycho-educational testing and classroom assessments.
The Educational Care Coordinators will work with the classroom teacher and the Division Directors to set up small group and individual check-ins to establish schedules for how students will work with the Educational Care Coordinators.
All check-ins will have a start and an end time. Those times must be respected so that the Educational Care Coordinators can spend time with all the students within their purview.
Before the check-ins, the Educational Care Coordinators will send a Zoom invitation to the students receiving services.
