About Mrs. Abbott

Welcome to second grade! Here is a little bit about myself. My name is Michelle Abbott. I am originally from north-eastern Wyoming.  I went to Black Hills State University where I majored in Elementary Education and received a minor in Reading.  After graduation in 2008, I took a position at West Elementary as an Educational Support Aide for a year.  I then accepted a 2nd grade teaching position.  This year I will be starting my 18th year teaching for the Spearfish School District! I was recently named region 5's teacher of the year for 2025. 

I live here in the beautiful Black Hills with my my husband, Jake, our son, Max, and our daughter Ruby. We have two pups named Marlee and Luna.   I love to spend time with family and friends.  Some of my favorite hobbies include being creative/artsy, gardening, and being outdoors.   I love our little family, my career, and our wonderful place we call home.
