The nature of Language Arts class is one in which students are actively exploring various skills throughout the class periods. They will be participating in learning goals that require both independent and interdependent engagement. With effective use of time on the part of the student, most of the work will be occurring in the classroom. Because all students learn differently, homework may look different for each student. Students are encouraged to practice methods that work best for them-- in some cases, a student may recognize the felt need to review terms or concepts, in some cases they may want to dive into reading, in other cases, someone may feel inspired to keep writing. Generally speaking, I do not assign homework--students learning to budget time in their "work" environment is a skill they should learn to master.
Makeup Work: If a student is absent, he or she should make contact with the teacher to find out what work needs to be made up and to arrange for due dates.
