This partnership between Sparta Township Public Schools and Sussex County Community College expands the existing Early College Advantage Program offered to Sparta students. This expanded program creates a highly structured course of study that will fulfill the NJ graduation requirements as well as the 60 credits needed to earn an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts.
The course sequence contains a blend of Sparta High School classes, summer coursework at Sussex County Community College, and 1/2 day program at SCCC during the 12th-grade year.
Students interested in participating in the Associates Program can complete the SCCC application during their Sophomore Year course registration.
Students interested in the Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts must
· Be highly motivated, goal-oriented, and an independent learner.
· Be enrolled in AP Seminar for their sophomore year.*
· Must be able to reach level 5 in World Languages.
· Maintain the academic qualifications for AP-level courses
*In 2021-2022, 10th-grade students interested in the program and NOT registered in AP Seminar can take the "Foundations of Success" course at SCCC during the summer of 2022 and AP Psychology in 11th grade. This option WILL NOT be available to students AFTER the 2021-2022 school year.
The italicized and bolded courses are taught on the Newton campus of Sussex County Community College.
