Grading: Point Based

  • • Each assignment, lab, test or quiz is given a certain number of points.

  • •Mini-quizzes are usually less than 15 points, Quizzes are 30 Points, and Tests are 100 points. Other assignments vary in points

  • •The more points, the more it will affect your average!

  • •Zeroes are entered automatically as placeholders

  • •All students are allowed to make up/correct work until Friday at 5PM

Notebooks & Binders:

In order to be successful in class, you will need to take notes, and to keep an organized binder. Note taking will happen almost every class period, so it is very important to bring your supplies everyday, and be an active participant in the learning process. All graded work is to be kept in your binder for review.

Late Work/Makeup Policy:

Late work will be accepted up to 3 days late; 10% off per each day late. Homework can be handed in for half credit up until that Friday at 5 PM Labs that are missed will be made up as alternative assignments. Students may “re-do” assignments until that Friday at 5 PM

Doing your own work is essential! Make sure you do not plagiarize others.

End of Course Exam (EOC)

Students are required to take an EOC at the end of the semester in order to pass this class. EOC is mandated* and created by the state education agency, therefore it is the student’s responsibility to study and do their best.

Biology EOC is 20% of the student’s overall grade for the semester.

*This may be cancelled or postponed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic

It is my job, as teacher, to maintain an environment in which all students can learn comfortably. Therefore disruptive, inappropriate, and disrespectful behaviors will not be tolerated. Expected behaviors may need to be reinforced until a solution can be reached, including consequences for incorrect behaviors.
