I am so excited to start my 20th year of teaching at Gable Middle School! Though this year will be different, I'm looking forward to making the best of it! When I graduated from Clemson University (before you were born! ) I made the decision to be a life-long learner. My classroom and teaching methods are centered on being flexible and trying new things. I'm excited to meet my students, even virtually!! Together, with lots of grace and support, we can end this school year better than we started it!

From the time I was a little girl I have always wanted to teach. I spent weekends, snow days, and summer days teaching my younger brother (I think that's why he turned out so smart...hehe) and my stuffed animals. My "classroom" consisted of my own chalkboard, desks, and a library. We would attend PE in the backyard and have a scrumptious school lunch thanks to the lunch lady (aka my mom). Although I have since realized that teaching is SO much more than fancy pens, cute art projects, and doesn't always have the most thrilled learners, I still LOVE it! This year is my 19th year at Gable. So many things have changed in education over those 19 years, but my desire is to change and evolve with it and promise to be the best teacher I can be...even in crazy times such as these!

I probably get my love of teaching from my grandmother--she always knew the best way to do things and was very patient when teaching me all kinds of stuff. While living in Ohio, I worked for years with a children's garden club and we had fun doing all sorts of projects-- using different color plants to make various designs such as a giant smiley face and a rainbow with a pot of gold were two of my favorite activities. Since I enjoyed working with children, I decided to go back to college to become a teacher. I have been teaching at Gable for nine years now and am very excited about figuring out ways to help my students learn online. I'm looking forward to reconnecting with my previous students and meeting my new ones. Can't wait to hear what you've been doing all summer.
