D.R. Hill feels like home from the moment you walk in the front door. There are some of the friendliest and most helpful people who work here. Everyone you meet, from the support staff to the teachers, is here for one thing: the care and education of students. I can truly say that everything that is done at D.R. Hill is first thought of in terms of how it can benefit the students here. It is a wonderful place to work.

I would like prospective teachers to know that we are less like a workplace and more like a family. Our administration is supportive and really cares about us as their employees and as people. All the adults in our building care greatly for our students and try their best to make sure they are not only successful academically, but know that they are valued and loved. D.R. Hill is the 4th school that I have had the opportunity to work at. I have worked in other schools in our district and in other districts across the state. It is difficult to try and "beat" what we have here. I work about 15 minutes away from home. One of the biggest influences on me not transferring closer to home is the administration we have. I have never worked for a more supportive team of leaders. This, as you may or may not know, is what truly makes or breaks a school. The team at D.R. Hill tries their best to instill a culture of appreciation, belonging, and importance for their teachers. Another aspect of D.R. Hill that makes it a great workplace are the students. Many people say that it takes a special person to work with middle school students- they are trying to figure out what they are doing and going through so many changes. This is the reason I love working with our students. At D.R. Hill you have the opportunity to make a profound impact on a student. Our students come from many different backgrounds, but all of them appreciate the relationships that they are able to make with their teachers. As an 8th grade teacher, it is always a surprise to receive emails from my old students who are now at the high school, but it does happen each year.
