Ms. Pope

After graduating from Furman University with a B.A. in History, I began teaching social studies at Landrum High School in December 1992. Since that time I've taught all grade levels from 7th through 12th and became a library media specialist. I'm excited to be back in the classroom full-time after having the dual roles of librarian and AP US History teacher for several years.

While fascinated with most every aspect of United States history and political science, some of my specific areas of interest include the history of the southern textile industry, women's rights, the Cold War, and the Civil Rights Movement. In the classroom, I enjoy integrating technology into the learning process and strive to engage students in thinking critically about history.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, traveling, researching genealogy, watching classic movies, exploring the mountains and waterfalls of the Carolinas with my husband, and spending time with my son.
