NEW this year!

Want to check out a book but you don't have time to stop in the library?

Mrs. Finberg - School Librarian

I have been the school librarian since 2007. This year, I am excited to teach our new 20th Century African American Literature course this year. This course is offered through the University of Pittsburgh's College in High School program.

I graduated from Seton Hill University in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in Secondary English Education. I have worked in libraries since I was 15 years old when I started as a page at Mt. Lebanon Public Library. My mentor librarian at the Pittsburgh Culinary Institute Library inspired me to fulfill my dream of being a certified school librarian. I obtained my Master in Library and Information Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2007.  I was offered the job at South Park High School, and I never looked back.

I moved to South Park  Township in 2016 with my husband and our band of misfit animals. We currently have three dogs (Eddie, Prince, and Willow), four cats (Riff-Raff, Mouse, Boris, and Mira), and three freshwater fishtanks. I also foster cats for a local rescue. I love to walk our dogs at the Montour Trail and sit in our sunroom with our cats.

My favorite genres to read are fantasy and horror. It's even better if they are both in the same book. Some of my favorite authors are Leah Bardugo, Kit Frick, V.E. Schwab, and Jason Reynolds. I also like to read biographies about strong women from history.

What I'm Reading

Shara Wheeler is missing. Her father, the principal of the private school she attends, doesn't seem worried. Chole is worried, especially since graduation is coming up and her rival for valedictorian is... (you guessed it) Shara. Chloe follows cryptic notes left by Shara on her signature pink stationary. She will have to rely on help from a football jock and a social outcast to find out the truth about Shara.
