I am very happy to introduce the 30th batch of Bachelor of Planning (2018-2022). The School of Planning and Architecture is a pioneer in delivering this undergraduate programme. Over the four years, students are given intense training to understand the complexities of development of urban and rural areas. They are exposed to the social, economic and political contexts within which cities and villages function. Within these four years, they learn to prepare plans ranging from neighbourhood to regional scale and develop competencies across sectors like housing, transportation, institutional frameworks, finance, etc. In addition to the technical competencies, the students also learn communication skills like interpersonal, group and conflict management skills and technological skills like mapping, GIS, data visualization, etc. It is also worthwhile to note that each student is subjected to a rigorous professional internship spanning a minimum period of 3 months.

As the nation is gearing up to face the urbanization challenges through diverse policies and programmes at the national, state and local levels, the students are well prepared to contribute towards improving the quality of Indian towns and cities and ensure that benefits of development are evenly distributed. This batch consists of highly motivated and competent budding professionals, I wish them all the success in future.
