I’m a poet, a mother, a woman of faith, and a lifelong lover of words.
For as long as I can remember, reading has been how I make sense of the world. My mother told me I used to cry when I couldn’t read yet ...that’s how deep it ran. Books have always been my way in. Into healing. Into hope. Into God. Into myself.
But lately, I’ve felt the pull to not just read in private, but to read together, to share stories out loud, reflect in community, and be reminded we’re not alone in the pages or in real life.
So I started the Sown in Light Book Club.
Because sometimes we just need to slow down, pick up a book, and let it read us back.
I wanted a space where we could read books that mirror the beauty and mess of becoming...womanhood, motherhood, love, grief, faith, questions, and healing. I wanted to gather women around stories that feel like good soil. The kind you can grow in.
This isn’t about reading the fastest or checking boxes.
This is about reading with your heart open and your spirit present.
This is a space to reflect, to connect, to laugh, to cry, and to grow.
There are no hard and fast rules about what we choose. Most months we’ll vote together, but every now and then, I might call an audible if something breathtaking comes along and just needs to be read. We’re following the light here.

I hope this book club becomes a soft place to land, full of laughter, light, thoughtful conversation, and that sweet sense of community we all crave.
I don’t want it to get too big. I like small and intimate. The kind of space where you know names, faces, and stories. But I do hope everyone shows up, to the books, to the meetings, to the moments.
We’ll aim to meet in person, something casual and cute, maybe a cozy café, a local bookstore, or someone’s warm backyard. Eventually, we may introduce small dues to cover snacks, venues, or invite a guest author to join us. Nothing heavy, just enough to help keep the light on.
This is for women.
Book lovers. New readers. Quiet thinkers. Loud laughers.
The ones who are craving connection, looking to make a new friend, needing a reason to get out the house and into something that feeds the soul.
If you’ve ever said, “I need more meaningful conversation in my life,” or “I miss the days when we used to gather like this,”
then sis… this is for you.
I’m a 90s millennial...so if you get what I mean when I say I’m too old for TikTok Gen Z chaos but not quite ready for AARP mailers… then you’re probably my people.
If this sounds like your kind of vibe,
go ahead and sign up for our first book club gathering.
Let’s see what beautiful stories we can read...
and write...together.
