Hello, and welcome to Out of the Blue's 2026 edition of our magazine! Dive into an exciting adventure, full of mystical pieces by the people from Timothy Edwards Middle School! This year, we dove into the seas with our ocean theme! Each different page is a different ocean of the seven seas! Your journey starts here - The north Atlantic, and the home page. Our works include diversity, not only from genres, but from writers and artists as well, ranging all the way from 6th grade even to works from the high school!. Special thanks to Ms. Olsen for initiating this club, as well as our beloved editor in chief, Aadya Tadikonda who has been in the club for all 3 years of her middle school experience. Extending thanks to our co-editors, Aarna J and Anirudh (Ani) S. They have been here for 3 years, alongside Aadya. They have worked with Ms. Olsen creating this wonderful edition of Out Of The Blue. Finally, thanks to all of the Out of the Blue members for your contributions to the club; we wouldn't be what we are without you. Now please, start your journey, here, on Out of The Blue.
Welcome abroad and we hope you have the trip of a lifetime.
Welcome to the fifteenth edition of Timothy Edwards Middle School’s literary magazine Out of the Blue! We are so excited to have celebrated the work of TE students and staff for fifteen years!
Our magazine is produced by a club open to all TEMS students and we are proud to publish and celebrate the different works of all in our school community. We publish each and every piece that we receive. There is so much talent in TE and we are proud of all members of our school’s community! Out of the Blue is proud to grow and expand each year as we publish the creative efforts of Timothy Edwards’ students, staff, and alumni.
I am incredibly excited about our magazine’s theme this year. Our magazine voted on “Ocean” as a theme, and then our editor-in-chief and co-editors really expanded on that wonderful idea. Last year’s theme was “In the Sky” and club members this year felt that it would be interesting if we used the elements as our themes. So, last year we used “air” and this year we used “water.” We are very excited to already have next year's theme, which will be “Garden” to go along with the element of “earth.”
Our theme 'Ocean' washed over us (pun intended) and for the first time ever we developed mascots for our magazine. Each tab of our website has a mascot to represent one of our submission categories. We hope you enjoy sailing our seas with Sid the Seahorse, Terry the Tortoise, Willy the Whale, Chloe the Clownfish, Doris the Dolphin, and our amazing axolotls. (Only a few of our mascots were inspired by actual club members…)
Timothy Edwards had been without a literary magazine for many years when I was fortunate enough to start this club fifteen years ago and our magazine has grown and developed in ways beyond my imagination. I am so fortunate to work with students who I may not get an opportunity to meet in my classes and to work even more closely with students in my classes who join the club. This is an experience that brings me much happiness every year.
I would also like to thank our superintendent Dr. Carter for her ongoing support of our magazine. Further thanks goes to our building administrators: Mrs. Irwin, Mr. Leòn, Mrs. Mafe, and Mr. Clifton. More thanks also go out to the many teachers who encourage their students to contribute to the magazine!
I would also like to acknowledge and thank the PTO for supporting our magazine each and every year. We could not make our magazine as beautiful and successful as it is without their generosity and support!
Finally, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our editor-in-chief Aadya Tadikonda. You have left an indelible mark on Out of the Blue. Our magazine is better because of you and you helped us dream things we never thought possible. Additional thanks go to this year’s co-editors Aarna Jaggi and Anirudh “Ani” Sanakkayala. As you go off into Out of the Blue, please always remember how amazing you are!
Most importantly, thank YOU for submitting to and/or reading Out of the Blue!
Sincerely,
Corianne Olsen

Dear Reader,
I’ve been honored with the opportunity to be Editor-in-Chief this year in Out of the Blue. This club hasn’t only changed my life, it opened my eyes to the vast and wide world of creativity and how it can be interpreted and cultivated. These students, as part of Out of the Blue, crafted. They’ve made stories that could make your heart burst with joy or cause a shiver (or multiple) crawl up your spine. They created poems and drawings and brought them to life.
This year, we’ve brought back an idea, made a few years ago by our former Editor-in-Chief, Ishanvi Mohapatra. And valuing her legacy, we’ve decided to do a sea/ocean theme. After all, what is more out of the blue than sparkling oceans and racing waves? We’ve based it off the 7 Seas, which is a deep and thrilling topic to anyone.
These creations aren’t just creations. They are magnificent worlds brought by our very own students. As I get ready to leave Timothy Edwards Middle School, I’m safe to say that Out of the Blue is in capable hands. I’m extremely proud of each and every student, for their dedication, participation and their willingness to power through the problems and pains of being creative. I’m leaving Out of the Blue in the midst of different art styles, literary components and pieces of hard work that started out with an idea or question. Our journey through the 7 Seas wasn’t all picture perfect. But that is what makes Out of the Blue beautiful. We are a group of students using creativity to traverse through oceans and past sea creatures. And that’s why Out of the Blue had and has my heart.
I especially want to thank my editors, Anirudh "Ani" S and Aarna J (some of my closest friends). You guys have stayed by my side and took my stress and made it your own. Thank you. This magazine is dedicated to YOUR hard work.
With Love,
Aadya Tadikonda

(Please congratulate them on a magazine well done!)
All pieces included in the magazine are original student and staff work. Please understand that everything in this magazine was proofread and carefully looked over when it came to art. While every attempt has been made to edit for mechanical and grammatical errors, we acknowledge that some issues may have been overlooked before publishing. Additionally, some of the written and artistic pieces in this year’s magazine have been inspired by other works. We hope you enjoy this year’s issue of Out of the Blue and the tremendous effort we all put in....
