At the heart of YSEP is a focus on cultural awareness and pride. Through activities celebrating African American history, art, and contributions to society, students will deepen their understanding of their heritage while gaining respect for diverse cultures.Workshops on topics like African drumming, poetry writing, and the achievements of Black leaders inspire creativity and reinforce the importance of cultural identity.
In addition to cultural enrichment, the program emphasizes leadership development, community involvement, and healthy habits. Students participate in hands-on STEM projects, team-building exercises, and service-learning initiatives that encourage critical thinking and collaboration. Violence prevention and emotional wellness activities empower youth to navigate challenges and build resilience in a supportive environment.
YSEP is a safe and empowering space to celebrate individuality, embrace African American culture, and make lasting friendships. Together, we’ll help students discover their potential and equip them with skills to excel academically, socially, and personally.
