South Side Help Center, affectionately known as The Center, is a trusted, welcoming space where young people can show up as they are while building the skills, confidence, and leadership needed for their future.
For over three decades, The Center has served as a place of safety, connection, and growth for youth and families in our community. Today, we continue that legacy by intentionally preparing young people for what comes next — in school, in life, and in leadership.
The Center is more than an after-school program.
It is a youth development hub designed to support young people during critical out-of-school hours while helping them grow into confident, capable, and engaged young adults.
At The Center, youth experience:
A safe, supervised environment after school
Positive relationships with caring adults
Opportunities to explore interests and build skills
Space to grow socially, emotionally, and academically
Building confidence, habits, and foundational skills
Strengthening identity, leadership, and belonging
Preparing for leadership, work, and next steps beyond high school
