Hi, I’m Rachel Hallock, and I teach high school Earth and Space Science in Central New York. After more than a decade of teaching—mostly in small, rural schools—I’ve built a collection of lessons, labs, and activities that I’m excited to share with fellow educators.

My academic background includes an MAT in Education from Ithaca College, as well as degrees in Geology (BA, University of Florida), Environmental Science (BS, Ithaca College), and Physics (BS, Ithaca College). I’m passionate about Earth Science because I love exploring how Earth systems connect on both small and large scales—whether it’s glaciers reshaping the crust or tectonic forces building mountains.

I’m a lifelong learner and regularly take part in teacher professional development. I’ve completed programs such as G-Camp (2020, 2022), Dig Field School (2023), and Project Atmosphere (2025). I also attend the STANYS conference most years and will be presenting in 2025 on aligning labs to the new Earth and Space Science standards.

Outside the classroom, you’ll probably find me hiking, paddleboarding, or fossil hunting. I love bringing those experiences back to my teaching and curriculum design.
