Attendance Policy

Minimum Attendance Requirement (High School courses): Students are required to be in attendance 85% of the scheduled class of a course of study to be eligible for course credit. This will be calculated by dividing the classes attended by the scheduled class meetings.

Students will be considered absent from a class if they are absent for more than 15 minutes of a scheduled double class period or 8 minutes for a scheduled single class period. The district reserves the right to withdraw students from their BOCES program when their absences exceed 10% of class days. For extenuating circumstances only, a parent/guardian may file a written appeal for review by the High School Attendance Committee. The written appeal, including all supporting documentation, must be received by the building principal no later than five (5) school days after the receipt of the loss of the credit notification. Copies of the minimum attendance requirement may be obtained in the main office.

My Policy

Students need to be in class and ready to learn every day. If they are absent for illness, a field trip, a band/chorus lesson, or any other reason, they must stay after school or come in during a free period to make up the missed work. Earth Science is a collaborative, hands on class that can not be made up by watching a video or doing a worksheet. Students with planned absences should get work ahead of time to be prepared when they return.
