When grading projects I will be looking for the following:
Objectives completed successfully (see rubrics for every project/every objective)
Creativity
Effort and time management (no abuse of technology usage) & care in use of materials
Google Classroom is used for each class to post your finished assignment in. School emails are required to use our Google Classroom. It is your responsibility to post photograph of artwork, so it can be graded. No picture, no grade.
I will take a grade on your folder at the end of each nine weeks. You will be given specific guidelines to how to organize it and present it.
Test and quizzes; there are at least one quiz and test per nine weeks based on terms, techniques and/or artists learned.
1 written report will be given during the semester based on artist/movements of art.
Midterms/Finals consists of a written paper/test and a final project.
10% of the total points will be taken off an assignment for each day that it is late. Due dates vary by projects and begin dates. Artwork turned in 2 weeks late without an excused absence will be a 0 and returned. If you are absent from class, you will be given the number of days you are absent plus one to make up missed work without losing points.
**End of semester turn in for paint brushes, palettes, and cups (clean and intact) is your responsibility and you will have to replace them if you are unable to turn in your supplies. Also your grade will be lowered by one complete letter if you are unable to turn in ALL supplies**
When you enter the art room you are entering a studio environment. This is a place where you are free to express yourself and develop your talents and skills. The following guidelines are to supplement the rules already in place in the South Range Student Handbook.
Art Room Rules & Expectations
PREPARE…Do your work, bring your supplies and come to class ready to learn and CREATE.
RESPECT…Your classmates & teacher, their opinions, feelings & beliefs…and their SUPPLIES.
ENGAGE…Do your BEST!! Effort + Thought = Results. Apathy & Laziness are forbidden.
PURPOSE…You’re here to learn, to grow and to benefit your own life!
No cell phones or personal devices are to be used in class. Phones must be racked at the beginning of class. No earbuds or wireless earphones.
Here are some examples of what the above might look like:
No talking during a lecture, demonstration, or daily directions. I don’t talk a lot… I promise! But when I do need to explain something, please show respect and listen.
No work from another class may be done in the Art Room without my permission. JUST ASK!! If you are majorly behind on something talk to me. I would not think you would paint in your math class or work on a sculpture in science so show me the same respect. If you are on track with your projects for my class, I will be flexible but you will use a “pass”. Once they are gone you will lose points from your projects.
No classroom disruptions or inappropriate language. No warnings will be given for cursing. There is ZERO Tolerance. If you choose to swear or let one slip YOU WILL receive detention in accordance with school policy.
No vandalism of the art room, supplies, or another’s work. This includes throwing things… even if you have the full intent of picking it up. Don’t do it! This is disrespectful and will not be tolerated.
It is expected that you will spend quality time on your artwork each class period (no wandering around the room or cleaning up early). You are responsible to work until I say to clean up (approximately 5 minutes before the bell rings).
Keep all materials clean, orderly, and returned to their correct locations. You will be responsible for your work bin and its contents, depending on the course for which you are enrolled. Students who purposefully waste supplies or abuse these supplies will be denied access to those supplies. An extra fee will be assessed at the end of the semester for materials that have been damaged due to lack of care and proper cleaning. Report cards will be held at the end of the semester until the lost/damage supplies are paid for.

I understand the rules, expectations and consequences of this class. I also understand how I am being evaluated and graded and have read and understand this syllabus and have asked questions about the procedures and expectations. I will give my best effort toward meeting class expectations. If I have future questions, I will contact Mrs. Adams through her website, email or phone call to the school.
