Cross Country FAQ & Info
Is Cross Country a Cut or Non-Cut Sport?
Cross Country is a Non-Cut sport. All athletes that are interested in running Cross Country will have the opportunity to practice and compete in meets. If you choose to not play football, you will be running Cross Country to serve as your Fall Sport Commitment.
Can my son play Basketball and run Cross Country?
Yes!! All athletes are eligible to run Cross Country. We will have days for them to run the routes, and compete for time qualifiers.
Meet Order
4:15pm- 8th Grade Girls- "A" & "B" teams run together
4:30pm- 8th Grade Boys-"A" & "B" teams run together
4:45pm- 7th Grade Girls- "A" & "B" teams run together
5:00pm- 7th Grade Boys- "A" & "B" teams run together
What is the distance of each race?
7th Grade 1.5 Miles
8th Grade 2.0 Miles
When is Practice?
We practice Cross Country during the Athletic Class Period. There is no before or after-school commitment except for meets. We will begin Cross Country Practice on the second day of school.
When & Where are meets?
Meets are typically on Wednesdays, please see the Schedule starting November 3rd. All races will be at Bob Jones Park. Races will begin at 4:30 PM.
Transportation?
We will bus all students to the meet, parents will pick up at Bob Jones
Is there an Athletics Dress code?
Yes, Green or Black Top and Black Bottoms. This applies to sweats as well. If you wish to wear tights, please only wear White. We will provide the Jersey and Shorts.
What kind/brand of shoes do we need?
We always say whichever shoe is most comfortable for your runner. This does not need to follow the dress code colors.
Can I bring a Pre-Race Snack/Meal?
We ask that they have their snack before they come to school. Or if you wish to bring it to School, please have your name on the bag, and leave it on the drop-off table by 2:45 pm.
