Welcome to the Elementary Section!
What we are talking about is the Mighty Mo organization, specifically basketball. There isn’t really a single person in charge; they all work together to make kids have fun and happy. The people that joined Mighty Mo joined because they love sports and love to see kids happy. You might want to know how many teams there are. There are 6 teams, and with all these teams 100 kids joined. These are not just people from South Holt. People from Mound City and other schools also come. Mighty Mo raised the money from fundraisers. They wanted to do Mighty Mo because they wanted young kids to learn about sports and give the kids an opportunity to play sports. They often practice when the gyms are open at South Holt. The adults that participated are John Plummer, Brent Schieb, and Sarah Schieb. Thank you for reading about Mighty Mo.

4th grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade all went skating December 14th at B&J's Skating Rink. I asked Charlotte Plummer (4th) what she thought about going skating with the school. She said that she liked to go out and have some fun. When talking to Ryan Schumen (4th) I asked him what he thought of going skating and he said that he liked to skate with his friends. Emalynn Debee and Wade Acton said they liked to skate more than playing games. We would like to thank the South Holt PTO for making it possible to send 4th-6th grade skating before Christmas break.

“Foul on number 33!” Junior Hoopsters is basketball for 5th-6th graders in South Holt upper elementary. The 6th grade boys basketball team has 3 or 4 tournaments on February 5th, 12th, and the 25th. The coach for 6th grade boys is Sarah Milne. The coaches for 6th grade girls are Patt Ezzell and Randy Mendenhall. The Coach for 5th grade boys is John Plummer.
Sarah Milne feels like its going to be challenging but with lots of growth. There are 8 players in 6th grade boys. There are 7 players on the 6th grade boys.
All the players in each grade (5th-6th) are going to get to play each position. Each set of players will get to play 12 or 15 minutes. There are 30 minutes in each game for 6th grade boys.Sarah Milne coached the 6th grade boys because there was nobody else willing to coach.
Sarah Milne wants to teach the kids that participating in sports can be fun but challenging and the players can make new friends. She also wants the kids to learn about teamwork.

Decembers character word for the month was compassion. Compassion means caring for others with kindness. Classroom teachers think all month on who they think is showing compassion the most. The selected students got to eat pancakes with all kinds of different toppings and drinks. Mrs. Mendenhall announces a the selected students over the intercom the day before the breakfast. Keep up the great work South Holt Elementary! January's character word is Tolerance.
