At BMS, we have adapted a restorative approach that uses Restorative Justice practices to assist us with fulfilling our school’s vision and mission. The restorative approach assumes that “The person is not the problem, rather the problem is the problem” and at its center are values such as, Respect, Responsibility, and Relationship.
Restorative practices are used in the Reflection Room to support harmony in the classroom and school community. Once a student has successfully used the Reflection Room to return to the Just Right Zone (JRZ), if a relationship has been harmed, The Restorative Assessment is used to prepare students for restorative conversations.
