Steven Clontz, PI

Dr. Clontz is Associate Professor of Mathematics at the University of South Alabama. He is the maintainer of the CheckIt random exercise generation platform, and community leader for the PreTeXt-Runestone Open Source Ecosystem.  He is responsible for the overall administration of the project, particularly the development of the TBIL Resource Library and the technologies that support it.

S. Raj Chaudhury, co-PI

Dr. Chaudhury is Executive Director of the Innovation in Learning Center and Associate Professor of Physics at the University of South Alabama. His research interests span a range of faculty and educational development and the classroom application of emerging technologies and research based pedagogies. His project responsibilities include helping shape the faculty development portion of the Summer Institutes and developing and implementing protocols for formative assessment of teaching. 

Julie Estis, co-PI

Dr. Estis is the Director of Academic Enhancement and Associate Professor of Speech-Language Pathology at the University of South Alabama, and is currently serving as the university's COVID Response Coordinator.  She is a Team-Based Learning Collaborative Certified Trainer-Consultant, and is currently the President-Elect of the Team-Based Learning Collaborative. Dr. Estis will assist with the training at the Summer Institutes, as well as providing support to the research portions of the project.

Christopher Parrish, co-PI

Dr. Parrish is an Associate Professor of Mathematics Education at the University of South Alabama.  In addition to preparing preservice mathematics teachers, his research interests include implementing Team-Based Inquiry Learning into the secondary mathematics classroom.  Dr. Parrish will lead the research portion of the project.

Drew Lewis, Consultant

Dr. Lewis formerly served as PI and Associate Professor of Mathematics at the University of South Alabama, and continues to support this project as a consultant.  He works in algebraic geometry as well as researching undergraduate math education. He is a Team-Based Learning Collaborative Certified Trainer-Consultant. He is responsible for helping Clontz manage the project, including developing training for the Summer Institutes, leading online working groups, and assisting in the research portions of the project.
