MaPP Challenge

The University of South Alabama’s Department of Mathematics and Statistics has partnered with Mathematical Puzzle Programs to bring fun mathematical events to its campus in beautiful Mobile, AL. Students participating in MaPP events will solve puzzles, break codes, and engage with new areas of real mathematics used in academia and industry!

This year's theme:

What is the MaPP Challenge?

Our players have fun, learn about their host campus, and strengthen their mathematical identities by demystifying the work of living mathematicians as not so wildly complex as it might seem at first glance!

Remember, the Challenge is a game, not a competition! We warmly invite you to bring any of your interested students, whether they consider themselves "mathletes" or simply enjoy games and puzzles. Check out MaPP's website to learn more!

MaPP Challenge '24 @ South - Monday March 4

This year we will be headquartered in the Mathematical Sciences and Physics Building on the east side of campus, off of University Blvd. (Note that we are meeting on a weekday while South students are on Spring Break.)

Registration for players in grades 7-12 is now available using this form. The cost to participate is $10 per player, with no cost for teachers or chaperones. Scholarships are available based upon need and can be requested on the registration form.
