(1) 2 Original Musical Compositions consisting:
audio recordings in MP3 format, and
scores/visual representation in PDF format
30 seconds - 60 seconds each.
Both compositions should preferably be contrasting in style and instrumentation, but compositions written in the same style and instrumentation are also acceptable.
Notational styles from different cultures and traditions are acceptable (e.g. Western staff notation, Cipher notation, Sargam notation system, etc.).
Other visual representations of the composition are accetable - such as shapes/lines/curves etc.
Audio recordings must be in MP3 format.
Submit the scores/visual representation in PDF format.
(2) Video Recording of ONE Performance on your Principal Instrument (5 min max.)
The piece should not exceed five minutes.
'Principal instrument' refers to the instrument on which you are most comfortable to perform and audition for SOTA.
You must present your programme with an accompanist if the piece requires one.
Accompanists are not required for piano, traditional Chinese instrumentalists, and traditional Indian instrumentalists.
A minus-one CD or backing track will not be permitted (except for drummers, electric guitarists and bassists).
You will not be permitted to switch your principal instrument upon successful enrolment to SOTA as the DSA offer is made based on the instrument applied for.
(3) Music Scores/Sheets
You must submit the music score/sheet of the work that you have recorded for the performance on your principal instrument.
Note
You must be able to identify the notes on the treble and bass clef in Western Staff notation (i.e. notes on the treble and bass clef of the music staff) fluently and accurately.
Advisory
Applicants must submit work that is authentic and created, by themselves, independently, without additional assistance (e.g. an instructor, ChatGPT, AI tools or technologies, etc.).
The following prohibited actions shall result in immediate disqualification and any subsequent offers will be rescinded:
Submission of copyrighted works
Submission of plagiarised works
Submission of works created using GenAI or other AI-music compositions
