GD Photoshop

JPEG ( Joint Photographic Experts Group) Lossy compression; supported by JPEG, TIFF, PDF, and PostScript language file formats. Recommended for continuous-tone images, such as photographs. JPEG uses lossy compression.

PSD (Photoshop Document)  is the default file format and the only format, besides the Large Document Format (PSB), that supports all Photoshop features.  This means that when you open the document, your layers will still be there.  PSD files will not upload to webpages or be visible on other platforms.  It will however be able to be used in other Adobe Programs such as Illustrator.

RAW format is usually associated with photographs that have been imported into Photoshop.  It is an image that has not been compressed.

Digital Negative (DNG) is a file format that contains the raw image data from a digital camera and metadata that defines what the data means. 

PNG (Portable Network Graphics) is used for lossless compression and for display of images on the web. 

Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) is the file format commonly used to display indexed-color graphics and images in HTML documents.
