Research Assistantships
If you are interested in studying the impact of stress on intimate relationships, join Dr. Nguyen’s lab as a Research Assistant (RA)!
Responsibilities and Opportunities
Learn how to interview couples and conduct those interviews via telephone
Recruit couples in the Bay Area to participate in the study
Read about the latest research on stress, communication, and marital relationships
Help design research experiments and projects
Code or analyze survey responses
Participate in Dr. Nguyen’s weekly lab meeting with fellow lab mates
Write journal articles or present research findings at national conferences
Receive mentorship regarding the field of clinical psychology and applying to graduate school
Note: Students who excel may have the opportunity to develop an independent research project
Time Commitment
Due to the intensive level of training for incoming research assistants, RAs are expected to commit a minimum of two semesters to the Sonoma Marriage Lab (e.g., Fall and Spring semester OR Spring and Summer semester OR Summer and Fall semester). RAs participate in 1-hour weekly lab meetings as well as 8+ hours of research activities outside of lab meeting.
