Climate Crisis

For many of my peers and I, climate change was never directly addressed within the K-12 school system. At a young age, we were taught to be kind to our environment, save water, recycle, etc, but it was never conveyed that we do these things because of climate change. This raises the question: How do we introduce the dire topic of climate change to kids without causing panic/fear, as well as imposing too much self-responsibility as many of us felt once introduced to the topic?
