Welcome to Sona Pharmacy!
Sona is an independent, community pharmacy where patients come first. We provide an experience that improves the quality of their lives outside of the pharmacy. Patients are at the heart of everything we do – listening to what they need from health care, treating them with care and respect, and providing an experience that improves the quality of their lives outside of the pharmacy.
At Sona, patients are more than medications. They’re people with a story, a family, a history, and a future. And when they come to the pharmacy counter, they need more than medications. They need someone who cares about them and wants them to feel their best so they can enjoy their lives outside of the pharmacy walls.
Listen and serve. Improve healthcare. Create change.
A better healthcare experience for our patients, clients, and communities.
We are dedicated to our patients, period. We honor your time, your money, and our relationship with you and your family. We want our patients to experience "better": feel better, spend their time better, and get a better value from each healthcare dollar they spend.
Sona Pharmacy is a locally-owned pharmacy located in East Asheville. We got our start in March 2005 when two pharmacists, Todd Tamplin and Dean Clayton, purchased PSA/Beverly Hills Pharmacy. Initially, Todd and Dean decided to continue serving the local community from the small pharmacy location at 948 Tunnel Road while focusing on the growth of the Long Term Care Pharmacy (LTC). In May 2016, our community pharmacy moved to its new location at 805 Fairview Road, and we changed our name to Sona Pharmacy + Clinic. In 2021, we separated from the LTC company and expanded our pharmacy services to include Compounding and Specialty. Our pharmacy focuses on bringing quality, affordability, convenience, and customer service together to ensure that we always keep our patients at the center of everything we do. We do this by offering enhanced services, such as medication synchronization, MTM, our Sona Access Program, vaccinations, and free delivery.
Our community pharmacy rotations allows for student pharmacists to learn about pharmacy workflow, basics of our business, providing clinical services in the community pharmacy setting, and communicating with other healthcare providers. In addition to medication therapy management, vaccinations, disease state management, and medication synchronization student pharmacists will have exposure to our Access program, our pharmacist-run PBM (Sona Benefits), our compounding pharmacy (Sona Compounding) and our specialty pharmacy (Sona Specialty).
Our ambulatory/direct patient care pharmacy rotations allows for student pharmacists to get hands on experience working in direct patient care through a variety of models with a unique community perspective. Experiences will include in clinic patient visits with embedded primary care pharmacists, prior authorization management (from both clinic and PBM perspective), medication therapy management, vaccinations, and comprehensive coordinated care through the Sona Access program. Students also assist with new project/service line development through CPESN contracts and implementing new services for pharmacy patients.
