TV Turnoff was started at Tuscan School in 2001. It is a widely successful and popular program with students, parents, and teachers.
Last year, almost 400 Tuscan students successfully completed the challenge. They attempted to free themselves from the “screen.” They challenged themselves to use their time, talents, and imagination to explore other things, like reading, learning a musical instrument, keeping a journal, playing outside, writing, drawing, or improving their keyboarding.
Indeed, studies have shown that students who watch ten hours or less of television a week perform better in school!
There are three levels of participation: Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Parents may choose the level that is right for their child.
*Families will be able to sign up for the 2025-2026 Tuscan TV Turnoff program in October of 2025.
Thank you!
This program is bimonthly, (every other month, Tuscan School Spirit Day) and is a school wide celebration of reading, where all of the Tuscan Students, faculty and
staff come out of the classrooms, sit outside the classrooms in the hallways and read silently for 10 minutes. This program is unique to Tuscan School and it is beloved by students, faculty and staff.
