Hello everyone! My name is Gopika Sharma, and I am a Psychology teacher at Columbia High School. I believe I have the best job in the world and I love both the art of teaching and the subject of psychology. I am excited to get to know each of you and have a great year exploring psychology together! Scroll down to learn more about me.
My education:
I grew up not too far from here in Madison, NJ. I earned a Bachelors degree in Biology and Psychology, along with a music minor from Rutgers University.
After Rutgers, I attended Columbia University and graduated with a Masters degree in Curriculum and Teaching.
My teaching style:
I believe that learning occurs not just through passive note-taking and lectures, but through a variety of methods. In my class you will experience hands-on, interactive learning and interesting conversation and discussion. Research shows that you learn the best when you engage in a variety of different learning experiences. Since I want you to learn, we will always do different things every day. Don't expect to be sitting in your seat, because you will be expected to move around!
