I couldn't do what needs to be done without you! I also have many students who have adopted our library as their own and come often daily, to help out with shelving and special projects. They make my days brighter!
My goodness; who'd have thunk it?! We've been at home school for some time. You are doing so well! Keep up that great work and the positive 'tudes! If you have questions, never hesitate to reach out to your teacher and of course me. I'll always try to help as much as I can.
Break will be unusual this year - think of ways to "travel" online or by book. Come up with fun activities outside. In my neighborhood we put different cut out shapes (shamrock, tulip, egg, etc) in the windows and have the kids go around, distant of course, and count them. Then we post the answers in a group email.
I have put Library activities into my Goole Classrooms. Don't stress, these are for fun and to take you away from the usual. You'll notice there are no due dates, so take a breath and enjoy.
Grab a good book, read to yourself, a sibling, a stuffy, or to your grown up.
Take good care,
Mrs. P
Do you know your teachers miss you as much as you miss us?
We are in an unprecedented time. It can be so difficult, but we can do it together. Books and good stories can be a great comfort and escape, so dive into one! I'll be posting free resources for you as I get them.
Take good care!
Mrs. P
The Kindergarten, Multiage and 3rd grade classes have been focusing on Women's History Month, reading biographies and learning about how this genre is different from others, while learning about many wonderful women who have paved paths for us. Bessie Coleman, Jane Goodall and Annie Taylor are a few of the names we've encountered. We also spent time hearing Irish folktales in tribute to St. Patrick's Day.
Our Fourth Graders have dived into their Battle of the Books reading and have organized their teams. They have 11 books to cover as a team and will have their battle in mid May. they are enjoying the varied titles and are visiting daily to exchange their Battle books. Students are allowed an additional book during the Battles so They can still choose their own reading as well as the Battle Choice.
We've been reviewing the OPAC and how to sign into individual accounts. The students also learned how to put books on hold after a search. In addition, classes were taught how to access the catalog at home. (Please see FAQs for more information on this.)
The Fifth Graders are also reviewing the OPAC and how to use the hold feature, something new to them.
We have been Battle focused in the Fifth Grade in March. All of our classes have had their practice Battle and will have the official Class Battle next week. the date for the Grade level will be announced soon!
Enjoy your Spring Break,
All the Best, and here's to a good book,
Mrs. Poutre
