How often does my child come to the library?
Each class at Seth Boyden Demonstration School has Library class once a week. Teachers may bring classes down to do work, research or lessons at other times as well. The library is open to students from 8:45-9 and 3-3:15 daily to return or exchange books.
How many books can my child take out?
Kindergarteners may take out one book each time they visit the library. First through Fifth graders may take 2 books weekly. Children who choose to be a part of the TV Turn-off program may check out an extra book weekly; K:2, 1-5:3. If your child completes his or her book before the class' library day, the students are welcome to visit during open library time to exchange books.
Overdue books/fines
Books are checked out for one week. Children may renew books if need be, as longer books take new readers longer to complete. New books may not be renewed. An Automatic overdue notice will be sent out weekly to remind your family that books are due back to Seth Boyden's Library so that others may enjoy them.
Our library does not assess overdue fines. Please try to return the books on time however, so other children may have a turn to enjoy them.
If a book is lost or damaged, a replacement will need to be paid for or provided by the patron. Please send in exact change or a check and a receipt will be sent home.
Better yet, a replacement book is always welcome!! I don't mind a gently used copy; go to Amazon.com and look for books in "like-new" condition. If the book was a hardcover, the replacement should be as well. This method can save a lot of money and get the book back to the library circulation fast.
If the book is found during the current school year a refund will be issued.
