SOCIAL WORK INTERN  PROGRAM

The Columbia High School Social Work Intern Program (SWIP) places graduate school social work interns into South Orange Maplewood's Columbia High School to provide a full range of counseling services for students and their families. The SWIP program is part of the Counseling Annex which is a "one stop shop" for all the needs of students and their families. We truly believe it takes a village, and we want to be here to support you in any way possible.

The program's goal is to support students who are experiencing social/emotional challenges and to help those students become more available to the learning process. The program offers a full range of clinical services including: prevention, assessment, parent advocacy services and referral services. Counseling is provided in individual and group modalities.

In the last 4 years, students have utilized the program and the numbers of students who have interacted with a social work intern has nearly quadrupled.

Families and caregivers can receive advocacy in the way of connecting them to in school supports, out of school supports and crisis intervention when appropriate
