SCHOOL COUNSELING INTERN  PROGRAM

The Counseling Department has developed an in-depth Counseling Internship Program that is designed to support the department's goals and initiatives.  Our Interns are Masters level students from local colleges and universities.  They are equipped to provide a range of workshops and services including executive functioning support, college and career exploration and stress management skills.  Students may access the Counseling Interns in our Counseling Annex or request an Intern from their School Counselor.

Zack Richard - Lead Intern

7:30 - 4:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays

Hey y’all! I’m Zack Richard (he/him/his)! Some of you may recognize me since I started at Columbia in June!  I’m really excited to continue working with all of y’all.  I love all things music and I typically have spotify on in the Annex.  I really like Ultimate Frisbee, so it’s awesome that I’m interning at its birth-place! I played for a bit in college, but had to stop due to a knee injury.  I recently became a Disc Golf Fanatic! I also love the beach!! Feel free to come talk to me about any of my interests, or your interests, or rant about class. I’ll be here with the door (probably) wide open!

Kelly Murphy

10:00 - 4:00 on Monday & Thursday

Hi!  My name is Kelly Murphy.  I am currently in my second year of the School Counseling program at Seton Hall University, where I also attended as an undergraduate Psychology major.  I currently live in South Orange and have lived in New Jersey my whole life.  A fun fact about me is that I am a playwright and have directed and produced shows in NJ and NYC!  If you love theatre too, please come chat with me!  Here at Columbia, I will also be running a group called Wellness Walkers, where we can walk and talk about what’s going on in your lives together.  Please come say hi!

Jackie Kraft

9:00 - 4:00 on Mondays & Thursdays

Hello, my name is Jackie Kraft. I currently attend the William Paterson University professional counseling program. I am a Leo and I love the summertime! One of my favorite things to do is relax on the beach or at a pool. A fun fact about me is that I am the middle child. I look forward to meeting everyone at Columbia High School!

Sajjadah Al-Amin

10:00 - 4:00 on Mondays & Tuesdays, & 10:30 - 4:30 on Thursdays

I’m Sajjadah Al-Amin. I’m an Advanced level Masters student at  Seton Hall University. My favorite colors are pink and purple and my interests include traveling, skating and trying new foods at restaurants. What I’m most excited about is working with the students from Columbia High School and getting their perspectives on life. High school can be tricky and is pretty much the last time before entering adulthood, I remember that. I can't wait to meet the students and am looking forward to a bright and speedy year!

Meg Malkasian

10:00 - 4:00 on Mondays & Tuesdays, & 10:00 - 2:00 Wednesdays & Thursdays

My name is Meg and I am a Seton Hall University graduate student. I have always had a passion for helping others and am looking forward to working with CHS students this year! Some fun facts about me are that I have played the Alto Saxophone since the 5th grade and have played at Carnegie Hall as well as at NCAA basketball games. I also have a black cat with a crooked tail named Magdalena.
